Álbum creativo 9: mini con marcos, costura y cosido japonés / mini with frames, sewing and japanes binding

Por fín llegan los dos últimos episodios de mi TOP 10 creative albums!

Hoy, os presento el proyecto nº9, con un mini álbum muy sencillo.

De estos con fotos y poca crónica, a partir de papeles coordinados y poco más.

La idea de este mini álbum es:

- con papeles 15X11 cm, doblarlos por la mitad

- reservar un margen a la izquierda (unos 1.5-2 cm de ancho)

- recortar un marco del tamaño de las fotos centrado (en las dos espesores del papel)

- pegar una foto detrás de cada marco

- doblar el papel y pegarlo

Álbum creativo 8: postales recicladas, fieltro y telas / recycled postcards felt and fabric by Alícia

Project nº8:

I am a little bit behind schedule with this series, and still have to present two last projects. But things are going crazy right now in the studio! Rest assured I've got it in mind:)

Today I am sharing a very special project. It's about a mini album I did with Alícia de collage de mèmories about three years ago in my Spanish workshop. She came to teach us (we were around 5 students) how to make felt out of wool and water and we did a felt cover for a very special mini album.
But as this series is about structures and bindings, I asked her if she was willing to prepare a tutorial about how we created the pages of the album.

You know Alícia is a queen at recycling and upcycling...and here is her tutorial!

Sé que tengo un poco abandona esta serie de mi blog, y todavía me faltan dos proyectos más a presentar. Pero las cosas van a un ritmo frenético esos días! Pero no os preocupéis, lo tengo presente:)

Hoy comparto un proyecto muy especial. Hace dos o tres años, Alícia de collage de mèmories vino a mi taller de Sants para dar una clase de fieltro en mojado. Junta con cuatro o cinco otras alumnas, hicimos una portada de fieltro para un mini. Nos quedó genial, y la pasamos pipa. Y lo que me encantó también fue la idea de Alícia para crear las páginas del álbum. Ya sabéis que ella es la reina del reciclaje! 

Este mini es uno de mis preferidos, y le pedí preparar un tutorial para poder compartirlo.
Aceptó encantada y nos preparó esta monada:
 

The basic idea is to collect postcards and use them as your pages after covering them with masking tape. Then, you can use pieces of fabrics, buttons and other bits and bobs to decorate the pages. For the binding, you can try metal rings (like Alìcia did), or sewing (like I want to do)...

La idea de base es colectar postales (de exposiciones, publicidad, etc.) y usarlas como páginas una vez recubiertas de cinta de pintor.
Luego, se pueden decorar con trozos de tela, botones y otras cositas.
Para la encuadernación, podéis elegir anillas metálicas (como Alícia lo hizo), o lomo cosido (como lo quiero hacer)...

Álbum creativo 7: flagbook remixed con crónica escondida y acuarela

Today I show you an album I taught several times in workshops, but with different versions. This one is my favourite version. A vertical format and a hidden journaling inside ingenious pockets.

Hoy os presento un álbum que he enseñado varias veces en clase, pero con distintas versiones. Ésta es la que más me gusta. Un formato alargado y la crónica escondida dentro de ingeniosos bolsillos.

The spine of this kind of album is an accordion. Then, the flags are glued to it in a criss-cross pattern. With two or more levels, you obtain an amazing effect when the album is open.
Here, we have three levels interlaced.

El lomo de este tipo de álbum (llamado flagbook) es un acordeón. Luego, van pegadas las "banderas".
Con dos o más nivel, se consigue un efecto muy bonito cuando el álbum está abierto. En este caso, tenemos tres niveles que se entrecruzan.

But the very special thing of my version, is the journaling hidden inside some pictures: when they are opened they reveal it. It's a way of keeping your journaling more secrete and personal, or simply of having fun with a more playful and interactive album structure.

Y lo más curioso de este álbum son las fotos que se abren para desvelar la crónica escondida.
Una manera de presentar las fotos y guardar la crónica más secreta y personal, o simplemente de divertirse con una estructura más lúdica e interactiva.

Álbum creativo 6: libro alterado con acrílicos / altered book with acrylics

I show you the paint + tissue paper technique in this video. (I recorded it when i was pregnant and had a workshop in Barcelona! Times flies by!) 

Te muestro en este vídeo la técnica de pintura + papel de seda (lo grabé cuando estaba embarazada y tenía mi taller en Barcelona! El tiempo vuela!)

Álbum creativo 5: tetra brik alterado / upcycling tetra brik

Half-way already! Ya vamos por la mitad! 

 

Yeah, this album is made of a recycled Tetra Brik!
The original idea was not mine but was Vinnie's (looking for the post i found it here). It's a pity she no longer updates her blog, because i used to like her work very much.

!Sí, este álbum está hecho a partir de un Tetra brik reciclado!
La idea base no fue mía sino de una escrapera llamada Vinnie (buscando la entrada la encontré aquí), que hasta hace poco publicaba su trabajo en este blog. Lástima que se haya "retirado" porque me gustaba mucho!


I found her idea so good that I even gave a workshop in Barcelona some years ago with my own version.

The Tetra brik structure was the same but I gave it my own twist:
1. Instead of covering the Tetra Brik with patterned papers, I painted it with acrylics and then applied some tissue paper in the wet paint (a technique i used a lot!)
2. I added a felt embellishment to cover the lid
3. I added two buttons on the spine for the binding with  strings

Su idea me había encantado tanto que di un taller en Barcelona hace algunos años con mi versión.
 La estructura a partir del tetra brik es la misma, pero le dí luego mi toque:
1. En vez de recubrir el tetra brik con papeles, lo pinté con acrílicos y lo forré con papel de seda (antes de que seque la pintura)...una técnica que he usado mucho!
2. Le añadí un pequeño "esconde-tapón" de fieltro hecho con una goma elástica y fieltro
3. Puse dos botones en el lomo externo a la hora de encuadernar

Álbum creativo 4: zen y naturaleza con marco de diapositiva / zen and nature with slide frame

A simple album created 6 years ago already, when I was starting with scrapbooking, and still one of my favourite! 

Basic material + recycling cardboard = an album dedicated to nature

Un álbum sencillísimo hecho hace ya 6 años, cuando empezaba con el scrap, y sigue siendo uno de mis preferidos!

Material básico + cartón reciclado = un mini dedicado a la naturaleza

You only need to cut pages out of cardboard and to cover them with sticky backing paper (here I used different wooden ones). Then you punch two holes, make a fold and bind them with rings!

Sólo tienes que recortar páginas de cartón y recubrirlas con papel autoadhesivo (yo utilicé diferentes papeles con acabado madera). Luego dos agujeros, un pliegue y anillas de metal!

For the interior, I used old slide frames, natural images found in magazines and quotes printed on paper. 

Para el interior, usé antiguos marcos de diapositiva, imágenes naturales encontradas en revistas y frases impresas en papel.

And last thing, I made an embellishment with thick felt and embroidery thread tied with a metal chain to one of the rings (first picture) . Nice touch to complete this album!

Think that you could apply this basic idea to a different subject: interior design, corners of your home, fashion, etc. Just make a compilation of inspiring images and quotes to keep on hand when you need inspiration!

Y por último, hice un embellecedor con fieltro grueso e hilo de bordado. Le puse una cadenita de metal y lo até a una de las anillas (primera foto). Un toque único para acabar el álbum!

Piensa que puedes llevar la idea de base a otro terreno: un álbum sobre decoración interior, sobre ricones de tu casa, sobre la moda que te inspira, etc. Un recopilatorio de imágenes y frases para tener a mano e inspirarte cuando lo necesitas!

Álbum creativo 2: álbum de viaje con cajón / travel album with drawer

Today it's the first day! And I will start with my weeding album: an album that has a double binding and a cover made of fabric scraps.

TOP 10 creative albums starting tomorrow!

Today it's a very special day! I have been published for the first time, and what is most amazing is that I have my first featured article in Somerset Memories magazine, autumn 2013, about my December Daily (you can see more about the process + pages here)

I am more than happy and had to do something special to celebrate with you, dear readers ♥

Hoy es un día muy especial! Me publicaron por primera vez y encima en la revista Somerset Memories (número otoño 2013). Le dedicaron un artículo a mi diario de Navidad ♥ (por si os lo habéis perdido, aquí más info sobre el proceso + páginas)

Por supuesto, estoy en las nubes, y tenía que celebrarlo de alguna manera con vosotros, queridos lectores:)

Since I am currently investing most of my time and energy in my Esty shop, I decided to have a look at my already-made albums and journals. 

I realized that most of them have never been shared here! Partly because some of them were created for workshops and classes, partly because some of them have a few years and by that time I didn't think of sharing them:)

Ya que últimamante estoy invertiendo toda mi energía y tiempo a mi tienda Etsy, decidí hacer un repaso de los álbumes y diarios que tengo hechos.

Me di cuenta que muchos de ellos jamás habían sido compartidos aquí! En parte porque algunos fueron creados especialmente para clases o talleres, y en parte porque cuando los hice algunos años atrás no pensé en enseñarlos.

I also realized that what i most enjoyed about making mini-albums and journals was creating the album structure using an original and unique technique (to the point that sometimes -often indeed-  i complete the structure but not the album).

Me di cuenta también que la parte que más me gusta de hacer mini-álbumes y diarios es la creación de la estructura usando una técnica única y original (hasta el punto que muchas veces completo la estructura pero el álbum se queda vacío)

Then, the blog series "Top 10 creative albums" was born...

Y así nació la serie "Top 10 álbumes creativos"...

This series will start tomorrow and I will share 10 of my favourite album structures and bindings during the following weeks.

Esta serie empieza mañana y compartiré 10 de mis estructuras de álbumes preferidas durante las próximas semanas.

I will share inspiring  photos and short tips, and i will hopefully demonstrate that without any expensive products it is possible to create beautiful books. As I always say, the process is the only thing that really matters!

Compartiré fotos inspiradoras y truquitos, y espero demostraros que sin gastar mucho en productos caros es posible crear libros bonitos. Como siempre digo, el proceso es lo único que importa!

Tomorrow, i will share with you the first project: our wedding album! (yes! this month, it will be 4 years already...)
