Me siento perdida

Dudo mucho...

I feel lost. The truth is that these last weeks have been far from easy. Every day I have to think about what I am going to do. It is not that I do not have plans. Indeed, I have a schedule where I have put all the things that I had in mind, ideas that I wanted to try, class that I give, class I should attend , etc. But when my schedule says" painting" , I just feel lost.
So today was a "painting" day. And, since yesterday night I read a book on pastel , I fell asleep with the idea in mind, excited with the possibilities and remembering my first steps with this technique, etc. So this morning, I rose, I had to solve different "annoying stuff" on Internet and over the phone, some of which put me in a very bad mood and kind of stressed me. Finally, I was able to start " painting". But I had no idea what I could paint. First, I began playing with a drawing that once I had left unfinished. It was of a naked model, which at this moment, I did not have in front of me… so that it was impossible to figure out the shadow/light zones, etc. I continued playing with this drawing, adding water (a new thing that I wanted to try with pastel), acrylic, etc. In the end I wrote " I need a guide" on it and just left it…
After that, I thought I had to focus on a still life. I couldn't find nothing inspiring. So I took the last peach I had in the fridge, a new paper to draw that I divided in four equal parts, and I began to paint this peach varying the techniques in each part, but always with pastel… It was not so bad, but I get fed up. I could not see where this could lead me… And now, I just abandonned everything and I am writing… I know that I cannot become a professional artist in three weeks, but is so difficult to keep on believing in myself. Every day I try to remember that everything I experiment will be useful and that THIS is the way. I'm trying not to tell myself " this is just shit" and " I won't do nothing with that, never". For those who know me, they can say I am behaving "positive". At another time of my life I would already have called my ex-boss begging him to take me back in his group. But today it's a new Alex. An Alex that thinks that with work, enthusiasm and self-confidence she will achieve her goals. The only bad thing is that sometimes I have my doubts. Big doubts.

I am not sure this post will be interesting for my blog readers (I know that I have at least 1!), but I really needed it. Now I'm back to work!

i really hope you are keeping an art journal sweets.
because that really is going to become invaluable to you. there is less pressure with it, because it is for you - and you alone.
you can practice there, experiment there, pour out your struggles there.

Ahhhh Alex! I wish I was there to give you a hug right now.
Dont give up! Sometimes the greatest art a person could do is maybe by a 'mistake' it is good to experiment! I've been doing the same thing this afternoon. LOL! It is on the layout Im doing for you! Im trying to make it a little bit more 'artsy' because that is what I think of when I think of you! Artsy!
Take time to go to a favorite spot and just sit there and do nothing! then maybe the next time you go back take supplies with you and create something beautiful!

I have a quote for you...........
The soul though it is hidden is at all time revealed, expressing itself through everything we say and do. Through the ordinary brush strokes of our everyday life, a portrait of our souls is being painted.

take care of yourself

Trust me!!!
